    What is Toasted Ravioli?

Cheese ravioli pieces are dredged in seasoned breadcrumbs, then air fried to crispy golden brown. It’s a party in your mouth.

And they are better than the deep fried version. Way better ! If you love Italian food, you’ll love these fried ravioli.

Non-greasy and non-fried ravioli takes the guilt away from enjoying the good food. They are everything you LOVE about eating them in your favorite Italian restaurant but better.

These fried ravioli are so delicious, my kids LOVE them.  So occasionally I treat them with a fresh batch of air fryer fried ravioli for an after school snack.

They are also perfect for Game day snacking. Just like Stuffed Mushrooms , Air Fryer Pasta Chips and Paneer Tacos, you won’t stop eating these while watching your favorite teams play.

Air Fryer Toasted Ravioli served with marinara sauce.

    Ingredients

Ravioli : I use frozen store bought ravioli filled with cheese and Italian seasoning.  The original classic toasted ravioli in Saint Louis was filled with ground beef.  You can use any filled variety of frozen ravioli for this recipe.

Breadcrumbs :  Panko style breadcrumbs are my favorite to use because they are airy and crispy.  You can however use regular breadcrumbs too.

Seasoning : Italian seasoning works best. You can sprinkle red pepper flakes for some spice. Just the onion powder and  garlic powder mix also works if you want to keep it simple.

Eggs : I use egg wash so the breadcrumbs coat and stick to the exterior of ravioli. You can use white or brown eggs.

    Salt and pepper to taste

Optional toppings :  Grated Parmesan cheese and fresh or dried herbs.  For dipping sauce : I prefer Marinara Sauce or Creamy Vodka sauce.

Ingredients used in making this fried ravioli recipe.

How To Make Air Fryer Ravioli

Put the eggs in a bowl. Using a fork, gently beat them to mix.

Put the bread crumbs and seasoning in another bowl. Mix it with a fork.

Take a frozen ravioli out of the bag and dip it in the beaten egg. Then dip it in the bread crumb mixture, covering it well. Repeat the process with all of the raviolis.

Grease the air fryer basket by lightly spraying the oil on it.

Add the egg washed and breaded ravioli to the basket in a single layer. Spray them with oil on the top and load the basket in the air fryer.

Set the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 14 minutes . Halfway through, pull out the basket, flip them over, and spray them with more oil.

Continue to air fry them for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown and toasted on both sides. Remove promptly when done.

Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and herbs on top. Serve warm with marinara or other dipping sauce. Enjoy !

Process steps collage showing how to make fried ravioli in air fryer without deep frying in oil.

    Pro Tips

Work in batches. Only cook in a single layer of breaded ravioli.  Don’t crowd them and don’t stack them.

No Air Fryer ? no problem! I am including directions on how to bake them in the oven as well. If you absolutely must fry them, use this Food Network’s recipe.

How To Make Baked Toasted Ravioli in the Oven

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray lightly with cooking spray. Add prepared, dipped raviolis, and spray with cooking spray on top of them.

Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Open the oven, flip them upside down,  spray some more oil on top and bake further for 10 minutes or until toasted.

How To Reheat Air Fried Ravioli

    • In the Oven: Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.
    • In the Air Fryer: Fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes, until warm.
    • In the Microwave: Arrange it on a single layer and heat it for 2 minutes in 30 second intervals.

What To Serve With Toasted Ravioli

Appetizer:   Classic way which happens to be my favorite way to eat them is with a bowl of sweet marinara sauce or homemade Instant Pot Tomato Sauce to dip the air-fried ravioli in. For a fun twist, top it with Basil Walnut Pesto, Italian Bruschetta or Olive Tapenade.

As a side : Serve them as a side to hearty comforting dishes like Creamy Mushroom Soup, Potato Soup or Instant Pot Risotto.

Main meal : Pair it with easy vegetable rich sides like Air Fryer Zucchini No Breading,  Crispy Cauliflower or Air Fryer Broccoli.

As a pasta dinner : Since Ravioli is a pasta, why not serve it with Pesto Naan Pizza ; Air Fryer Garlic Toast or Air Fryer Naan Pizza ? These all time classics are our household favorite dinner pairings.

    Substitutions
