Ingredients
These Cheese Chili Toasts require only 4 main ingredients and you can make so many different variations with optional toppings of your choice. Plus it is low cost since all the ingredients are inexpensive and easy to find in regular grocery store.
Bread: You can use whichever bread that is readily available. Whole wheat bread works well too. I prefer to use whole grain slice of bread since it is always in the house. If you want to make it like Texas toast, use a French loaf instead.
Butter: Use plain or salted butter. Use it at room temperature. If you are using it straight from the refrigerator , melt it for 30 seconds so it is spreadable.
Garlic: Peeled and minced . I prefer fresh garlic cloves but you can use bottled as well.
Cheese: You can use your favorite type of shredded cheese or whatever is available at home. I used Colby Jack cheese. Mozzarella, or pepper jack cheese work best.
Additional Toppings: Chili flakes, red pepper, dried or fresh herbs like oregano, parsley, basil, or cilantro, Italian seasoning.

Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine butter, garlic and salt (if unsalted butter) Butter should be room temperature or slightly melted and spreadable.
Spread the butter garlic mixture with a butter knife or back of a spoon on top of the bread slices.
Arrange them in a single layer on the air fryer basket.
Spread shredded cheese on top of the buttered slices.
Sprinkle chili flakes and other seasonings as per your liking.
Air fry at 350 ° Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Check for doneness. Add extra minute if needed till toast is golden brown and cheese is melted.
Remove promptly from the air fryer. Cut into triangles or in your desired shape. Serve and Enjoy.
Other Cooking Methods
You can also make this recipe on the stove top or in the oven . Here’s how
Stove Top Option: Warm up the griddle, grill pan or an omelet pan on medium high heat. Place the toasts on the griddle. Toast till toast is crispy and cheese is gooey.
Oven Baking Option : In a preheated oven bake at 350 °Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Check for doneness. Add extra few minute if needed till cheese is melted.

Choose certified gluten free bread if you want to make this recipe gluten free.
If you want to make this recipe vegan, choose plant based vegan butter and vegan cheese. You can also use olive oil instead of butter.
I used sliced wholegrain white bread because I always have it in my refrigerator for making quick lunch sandwiches like this Banana peanut butter sandwich or masala toast sandwich.
You can also use other types of breads, loafs and baguette. Cut them into even slices.

Storage
Garlic Cheese Toast is best when eaten freshly made. Serve it warm so melted cheese stretchy and yummy. If you must store this homemade garlic toast, wrap it in aluminum foil and store up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
To Freeze : Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and flash freeze until hardened. Once frozen, transfer it in zip-loc bag and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
To reheat, simply pop in the air fryer and warm it up for 5 minutes on low setting.

- 2 Tablespoon Butter melted or at room temperature
- 1 Tablespoon garlic minced
- ¼ cup shredded cheese mozzarella, Colby jack, parmesan or pepper jack preferred
Optional Toppings
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, black pepper
- 1 Tablespoon fresh or dried herbs like cilantro, basil or parsley
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine soft butter, minced garlic and herbs if using.
- Arrange bread slices in a single layer on the air fryer basket.
- Slather the bread slices with butter garlic mixture with butter knife or back of spoon.
- Spread shredded cheese on top.
- Sprinkle chili flakes and other seasonings as per your liking.
- Air Fry at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 10 minutes or until toast is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove promptly. Cut into your desired sizes and serve warm. Enjoy !

Just wondering…when using the Air Fryer setting, the fan is quite strong…would this blow the cheddar cheese off the bread? I think I would need to use my Pressure Cooker rack above the bread/cheese to hold it down.

Buttered toast holds the cheese down pretty well. We have never seen cheese blow off in air fryer.
