    This airfryer potato recipe needs very little prep work, only 5 main ingredients and 20 minutes to make.

    These golden brown roasted tiny spuds also look so elegant and gourmet. This amazingly delicious recipe also is Gluten Free, vegetarian and Eggless.

    The air fryer has become my favorite gadget in the kitchen. I love making delicious recipes like Zucchini Fries, Buffalo Cauliflower Wings,  Air Fryer Fried Pickles and Bang Bang Cauliflower Bites using this versatile kitchen appliance.

    Ingredients

    Five main ingredients used in making this recipe.

    Exact measurements are listed in the recipe card below. Fabulously crisp fingerling potatoes need only few ingredients.

    • Fingerling Potatoes : I often buy them at Trader Joe's
    • Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast
    • Minced Garlic or garlic powder
    • Fresh Herbs : Parsley or basil are great options. Fresh rosemary also tastes wonderful and earthy.
    • Olive oil or cooking oil spray

    Instructions

    Preheat an air fryer to 400° degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes.

    Place washed and cleaned potatoes in a large bowl. Add olive oil, Parmesan cheese,  minced garlic, salt, and pepper and stir until evenly coated.

    Process step one of preparing fingerling potatoes for air frying and seasoning them.

    Place potatoes in the basket of the preheated air fryer and cook for 10 minutes.  Open the lid. Shake the basket, spray some more oil mists and cook until desired crispness is reached, about 5 more minutes.

    Process step two of arranging the potatoes in single layer for air frying/ roasting.

    Remove the air fryer tray.  Sprinkle the parsley and remaining Parmesan cheese on top. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping. Enjoy !

    Pro Tips

    Besides fingerling,  this recipe will work for any type of small baby potatoes. If you plan to use larger potatoes, chop them in wedges or cubes.

    Once potatoes are fresh out of the air fryer oven, I sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese and parsley. The end result is the taste of roasted garlic, and herby cheese in every bite. It is simply amazing !

    I also add some parmesan cheese in preparation before air frying. This helps get a crispy, charred cheese on the potato skin. With a mist of olive oil, it adds nice depth to the flavor quotient.

    I prefer to cook them whole and then cut them in half while serving.  It helps to retain the moisture inside and prevents them from getting too dry. Air fryer version is effortless & time saving.

    When you roast them in an air fryer or in the oven, the skin turns golden brown and becomes crisp. They remain tender and buttery inside. 

    Seasoning, especially dry herbs burn quickly and taste bitter if you add them from the beginning.  So add all your flavorful seasoning just after they come out of the oven or air fryer.

    How To Prepare Potatoes for Cooking

    Since we are not peeling and removing the skin,  wash the fingerling potatoes in the colander thoroughly under clear running water. Scrub if there is any dirt, dark spots or extra tuber growth on the surface.

    After washing, pat them dry completely with a kitchen towel. No moisture should remain. This is important to get them nice and crispy.

    Serving Suggestions

    Serve it along with Chipotle Mayo and you won't believe how fast you finish it off. Finger licking delicious stuff loved by all including kids ! Win win !

    These crispy spuds are good for serving on many different occasions. Serve it as an appetizer along with some creamy spicy dip for game day or movie night.

    They are also perfect for guilt free snacking. Kids love it for after school snacks.

    Air fryer fingerling potatoes make excellent side dish served alongside grilled meats, chicken breasts, burgers, wraps and sandwiches.

    They look so festive and pretty,  you can also serve them as a side dish for your special family dinners or holiday gathering – these are always a big hit with everyone!

      Storage and reheating

      Arrange them in a single layer on the air fryer basket.  And re-heat in the air-fryer for 4-5 minutes at 350° Fahrenheit . Store the leftovers in airtight container.

      What are fingerling potatoes?

      Fingerling Potatoes are elongated small potatoes typically the size of a finger.
      They have thin skin which doesn't need peeling. These potatoes have a firm texture that holds up well to cooking.

      Should I roast them whole ?

      You can roast them whole or just cut them in half. They’re the perfect size for finger food - easy to hold, dip and eat.

      How to avoid uneven cooking in the air fryer?

      Do not overload the basket so that there is enough space for the air circulation. This is most important. So, if you have large quantities to prepare, cook in batches.  Also, give it a shake in between cooking to rearrange the pieces.

      Why Should you buy organic fingerling potatoes?

      Fingerling potatoes have thin skin and don’t need to be peeled. However, to avoid the pesticides,  I prefer to buy them organic whenever possible.

      • 2 pounds Fingerling potatoes cleaned
      • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or use oil spray
      • 3-4 Garlic Cloves minced
      • 1 Tablespoon Chopped parsley
      • 4 Tablespoons Grated Parmesan cheese divided
      • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

      How To Air Fry Fingerling Potatoes

      • Preheat an air fryer to 400° degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) for 3 minutes.
      • Place washed and cleaned potatoes in a mixing bowl. Add olive oil, half of the Parmesan cheese,  minced garlic, salt, and pepper and toss until evenly coated.
      • Place potatoes in the basket of the preheated air fryer and cook for 10 minutes. 
      • Open the lid. Shake the basket and cook until desired crispness is reached, about 5 more minutes.
      • Remove from the air-fryer.  Sprinkle the parsley and remaining Parmesan cheese on top.  Serve immediately with your favorite dipping.  Enjoy !

      How To Make Oven Roasted Fingerling Potatoes?
      You can bake these in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 18-20 minutes or until they are crispy. If possible,  use a crisper basket instead of a baking sheet.
      Preparing the Fingerling Potatoes for roasting:
      Since we are not peeling and removing the skin,  wash the fingerling potatoes in the colander thoroughly under clear running water. Scrub if there is any dirt, dark spots or extra tuber growth on the surface.
      After washing, pat them dry completely with a kitchen towel. No moisture should remain. This is important to get them nice and crispy.

      Can I double the recipe? Yes you can. However, don't cook at once. Make them in separate batches so the potatoes cook well and get golden crisp.

      If Using Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid or Crisp Lid

      Arrange the potatoes in a single layer on the basket. Place the basket on the trivet. Cover and secure the Instant Pot with air fryer lid. ( or crisp lid)
      Air fry at 400 Fahrenheit ( 200 Celsius) for 15 minutes until the potatoes look wrinkled and start turning golden brown.
