Ingredients
All you need is basic 5 ingredients to make this ultra delicious vegan cauliflower recipe. And it is easy to change the seasoning to your preference and liking. So let’s make it
Cauliflower – I use store brought pre cut cauliflower florets to save time and efforts. But you can also use 1 cauliflower head, cut the base green leaves and tough root portion. Then cut it into medium bite size pieces. You can use portion of the stems too.
Seasoning : I am using curry powder and smoked paprika along with salt and pepper for seasoning. This brings out ultimate flavor to earthy mild cauliflower. Little lemon juice adds wonderful zest to the crispy cauli bites. Fresh parsley or other herbs add touch of freshness.
Options and Variations
- Oil or oil spray is optional. Use it for oven baking so the florets retain moisture when cooked under high heat. Olive oil or avocado oil will crisp up and taste delicious even if you don’t use it.
- If you do not like curry powder flavors, you can use variety of other seasonings. Simple onion powder and garlic powder, chili powder, Taco Seasoning, Italian Seasoning, Cajun Spice Mix or Jamaican Jerk Seasoning are great choices. Blue cheese, Ranch, buffalo sauce or honey mustard also works beautifully.
- Sprinkling some parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast on top is great way to add flavors too.
Air Fryer Instructions
- Toss the cauliflower florets with curry powder, lemon juice, smoked paprika and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Place seasoned cauliflower in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure to leave some space between florets for air circulation.
- Air Fry cauliflower at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 minutes. During these 12 minutes, toss and rotate the cauliflower half way through so it will crisp up evenly. It should be golden brown and sizzling once done. Serve warm immediately.
- For leftovers, Store them in airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it in microwave or air fryer until warm.
Oven Instructions
- Toss the cauliflower florets with curry powder, lemon juice, smoked paprika and salt in a large bowl.
- Place seasoned cauliflower in a single layer on the baking tray. Make sure to leave some space between florets for air circulation.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook for 15 minutes tossing every 3-5 minutes so it crisp up evenly. It should be golden brown and sizzling once done. Serve warm immediately. Enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Similar to all other vegetable roasting, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket with cauliflower. Ensure that there is space between each floret. Hot air needs to circulate between each piece to crisp it evenly. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Try to cut even size florets so they cook evenly. Otherwise smaller florets will brown and burn quicker than larger florets.
- Because cauliflower can burn easily, check and toss the basket every 3-5 minutes to ensure even browning.
Can you air fry frozen cauliflower?
Yes! You can make this recipe using frozen cauliflower. You don’t need to thaw it first. Just toss frozen cauliflower with seasoning and cook.
You may just need a little longer time to cook. Check after 10-12 minutes, if it feels too soggy, add 3-5 extra minutes. However keep checking intermittently so avoid it from burning.
