These Air fryer roasted mushrooms need hardly any prep. This quick and easy recipe makes the perfect side dish in 15 minutes. It is easy to customize to your liking too

This recipe makes non breaded air fryer mushrooms. So, instead of sautéed mushrooms on stove top, this is a hands free version. Instead of roasted mushrooms in the oven, this recipe gets done in half the time so it is quick and time saving.
INGREDIENTS
- Mushrooms
- Olive Oil or Oil Spray
- Onion and Garlic powder
- Black pepper powder
- Salt
- Optional Garnishes : Red pepper flakes, dried herbs like Parsley, lemon wedges
NOTES AND SUBSTITUTIONS
Mushrooms: I am using baby Bella mushrooms. But Portobello, white button, Cremini or oyster mushrooms would also work perfectly.
Oil: I like to use Avocado or Extra virgin olive oil since we are cooking at a high temperature. Feel free to use other cooking oils including canola oil, sunflower oil or vegetable oil. You can also use melted butter.
Using cooking oil spray is a great alternative. I love this Avocado Oil Spray. ( Amazon affiliate link) It is low calorie, coats things well and gets the job done well.
If you are looking to make this recipe Whole Foods Plant Based Oil free ( WFPB) simply skip the oil. You can use tablespoon of water or vegetable broth so the seasoning can stick to the mushrooms.
Seasoning: I am using basic seasoning of onion powder, garlic powder and black pepper powder. Mushrooms are rich in umami flavors so you don’t need much other ingredients.
Feel free to use soy sauce, Tamari, Coconut Amino, Rice Vinegar, Worcestershire Sauce or Chili Garlic Sauce if you want more intense and rich flavors.
Store bought Italian seasoning , Old Bay Cajun seasoning , Turmeric Curry Powder or Garam masala also tastes wonderful. Everything but Bagel seasoning is also a great option.
AIR FRYING MUSHROOMS
Air fryer mushrooms get done really quickly . Plus it’s hands off recipe so you can make other dishes while mushrooms are happening in the air fryer.
It takes 375 degree Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 mins to cook them in the air fryer. You should check them mid way through to make sure they are roasting evenly.
Air Fryer temperatures and cooking times vary widely amongst different brands. If your air fryer has a tendency to burn food quickly, choose lower temperature.
HOW TO MAKE THE BEST AIR FRYER MUSHROOMS
Wash mushrooms under running water. Scrub off dirt on the stems and under the caps. Let them drain in a colander and pat dry with paper towel before using.
Cut them in half. You have bigger sized mushrooms, cut them into quarters. Do not make thin slices.
Add mushrooms to a mixing bowl, add oil, black pepper, salt, onion and garlic powder. Toss to combine and coat.
Put seasoned mushrooms into air fryer basket. Set temperature to 375°Fahreheit and put the timer for 8 to 10 minutes. Mid way through air frying, gently toss the mushrooms with a wooden or silicon spatula.
Serve warm with optional garnishes sprinkled on top your choice of dip, spread or dressing. Enjoy !
HOW TO STORE
Air fried Mushrooms are best when served immediately after making. Serve warm or at room temperature. However have leftovers, keep them in a air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
REHEATING
Reheat the mushrooms in the air fryer at 325 degree Fahrenheit for 3 to 5 mins or till heated through. You can also do this in the microwave at 30 seconds intervals till warmed through.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Air Fryer Roasted Mushrooms make excellent side dish that will go with any comfort food type of dinner. I like to serve it with cozy soups like Creamy Gnocchi Soup, Vegetable Barley Soup or Chickpea Orzo Soup.
You can also serve them in Buddha Bowl, as a light lunch or as a salad. I like to drizzle Avocado Cilantro Lime Dressing or cool Greek Tzatziki Sauce pair beautifully.
You can also top these seasoned crisp mushrooms on toasted baguette or crostini’s. Along with Olive Tapenade and Classic Bruschetta, it is my favorite way to enjoy small plate Tapas Style Appetizers.
