Air fryer pasta chips are truly a social media sensation. Also called as TikTok Pasta Chips, they have become a popular snack due to their crispy texture and healthy cooking method.
Unlike traditional fried chips, air fryer pasta chips are made by circulating hot air around the chips, resulting in a crunchy golden brown and crispy exterior without the need for deep-frying.

These delightful pasta chips can be made with a variety of pasta shapes and sizes. Whether you prefer penne, fusilli, or any other pasta shape, they do evenly crisp the surface of the chips. Additionally, you can use flavored pasta, such as spinach or tomato, to add extra flavor to the chips.
Ingredients
- Pasta : I used tri color farfalle which is butterfly shaped pasta. The tri color pasta often includes spinach and tomato flavored pasta which adds nice visuals with multi-colors of bow tie shaped pasta. You can use any short cur pasta like penne, rigatoni or fusilli. It is perfectly ok to use whole wheat pasta for whole grain benefits. Regular wheat pasta or gluten free pasta also works.
- Oil : I prefer to cook pasta with olive oil so it doesn’t stick together. A bit of olive oil is also used to help with making crispy chips. You can also use oil spray.
- Seasoning : I am keeping it super simple for seasoning. Minced fresh garlic, along with salt and black pepper is enough to give nice flavors. You can sprinkle a dash of red pepper flakes for a spice. Feel free to add dried herbs or other seasoning of your choice to flavor these chips. Italian Seasoning is always a good choice.
- Parmesan Cheese : Makes these chips golden brown cheesy on the top. Use nutritional yeast to make it vegan and plant based.
How to Make
- Cook pasta per package direction. Add salt and oil while boiling water so pasta doesn’t stick together and has nice salty taste. Thoroughly drain the cooked pasta in the colander so excess water is removed. I am also including instructions on how to make pasta in Instant Pot in the recipe card below.
- Move the cooked pasta in a large mixing bowl. Toss the pasta with olive oil, parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast, minced garlic, salt and pepper. mix well to combine.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil. Add the seasoned cooked pasta to your air fryer rack or basket in a single layer. Choose 375 degree Fahrenheit temperature for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking at 4 minute intervals, or until they become golden brown.
- Remove from the air fryer. Serve with favorite dip and enjoy !

Marinara Sauce and Pesto Sauce Without Pine Nuts are my favorites. You can also use different dips such as ranch dressing, hummus, or Avocado Cilantro Lime Dressing.
You can also use them as a crunchy topping for salads or soups. I especially love them with Creamy Tomato Soup, Stuffed Pepper Soup and Creamy Mushroom Soup. They are perfect replacement for croutons. You can use them as a side dish with your main course as well.
Similar to Air Fried Pickles and Toasted Ravioli in Air Fryer, this pasta chips recipe is unique and delicious. It is great for tea time snack when served with cup of Chai – Spiced Indian Tea or Sweet iced Tea.
You can also use them for game day snacking, or movie night spread along with Spinach Artichoke Phyllo Cups, Italian Bruschetta and Corn Fritters.
Storage
Air fryer pasta chips are best eaten just after making them. They loose their crisp texture and become tough and chewy if you keep them too long. Store leftover bowtie pasta chips in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

I prefer to use broad surface pasta to make chips. They hold the seasoning well and get a good crunch like chips. Bowtie or farfalle is my favorite but rigatoni, and penne pasta also works.
Use certified gluten free pasta to make pasta chips. Brown rice pasta, or Mixed grain pasta like corn-quinoa millet pasta are good options. Cook pasta al-dente so it gets crispy and doesn’t become hard.

Air Fryer Pasta Chips
Ingredients
- 8 ounce dry pasta I used tri color farfalle
- 2 Tablespoon olive oil divided
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes and dried herbs optional

- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil. Add the seasoned cooked pasta to your air fryer rack or basket in a single layer. Choose 375 degree Fahrenheit temperature for 10-12 minutes, shaking at 4 minute intervals, or until they become golden brown.
- Remove from the air fryer. Serve with favorite dip and enjoy !

How to Cook Pasta In Instant Pot
Add 3 cups of water, salt 1 tablespoon of oil , and dry pasta to the Instant Pot and stir gently before placing the lid on top. Set the vent knob to the sealing position and pressure cook the pasta on high for 3 minutes. When the cooking cycle is complete, quick release pressure immediately. Pour the cooked pasta into a colander and let the excess water drain before using it.How to bake Pasta Chips in the Oven
