These easy Air Fryer Bananas with maple brown sugar and cinnamon are a delicious treat. They are full of sweet, tender and complex texture that’s over the top with flavor. This 5-ingredient and 15-minute caramelized banana recipe is simply drool-worthy and delicious !
Enjoy them ‘as-is’ or as a topping for breakfast over pancakes, waffles and oatmeal. You can also serve them with a dollop of ice cream and chocolate chips for a heavenly dessert!

Ingredients
Bananas : Blemish free yellow ripe bananas are perfect to use. Do not use browned and overripe bananas because they will get mushy.
Sweetener : I like to use both maple syrup and brown sugar for the sweet taste. You don’t need much because ripe bananas are already sweet. Maple syrup adds deep earthy taste to these bananas. Sprinkled brown sugar on top creates nicely crispy caramelized crust on the top. It is insanely delicious.
Butter or coconut oil : To keep the bananas moist while cooking.
Flavor : Cinnamon powder is my favorite. You can also use store bought pumpkin pie spice mix. Vanilla extract also works great.
Substitutions: For indulgent adult version of this recipe, you can use bourbon, whiskey or rum to coat the bananas. For a tingling spice note, dust it with some chili lime seasoning or ginger powder.
How to Make
Start off by peeling and cutting ripe bananas lengthwise with a sharp knife. Remove all the excess strings especially the middle membrane.
In a mixing bowl, melt the butter or coconut oil. I typically do it in a microwave safe dish. Whisk it together with cinnamon powder and maple syrup.
Lightly mist air fryer basket with cooking spray or line air fryer basket with silicon liner or parchment paper. Place sliced bananas into the air fryer basket. Keep it in single layer without overcrowding or overlapping.
Using a pastry brush , coat the banana slices with maple butter cinnamon mixture. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. This gives nice crispy bites and beautiful caramel color.
Air fry at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes until they are golden brown. Serve warm. Enjoy !

As a Dessert : Be creative when it comes to serving these air fried bananas. You can add whipped cream or whipped coconut cream or ice cream for a decadent treat. Sprinkle some shredded coconut, sprinkles and candies or chopped nuts or drizzle chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
As a breakfast Topping : Use these warm, sweet, air fried bananas on top of yogurt, pancakes, waffles, French toast or homemade granola.

Pro Tips
- Use firm and yellow bananas to make this recipe. They hold the shape best and have nice bite to them. Over ripe brown bananas , on the other hand, will get too soft , mushy and pulpy.
- Different brands of air fryers differ in how quickly they cook, so you may need to adjust the time up or down depending on what air fryer you’re using.
