Recipe Inspiration
My grandmother is 91 years old and going strong ! God bless her happy and energetic soul. Beginning of winter months, she has been making this powder for as long as we can remember.
I love recreating these recipes that have been passed down the generations. In those good old days, people especially women heavily relied on herbs and spices to treat the common ailments. These home remedies need to be cherished and revived to the best way possible.
Kitchen wisdom as we can call it , now sells for big bucks under the names of superfoods and natural remedies. I remember my grandma used to mix this immunity powder with ghee and jaggery. She used to make bite size balls and we would get them as a after school sweet treat.
I want to share one such simple powder mix. The combination of herbs and spices in this mix is commonly believed to help boost your immune system.
Indian Herbal Tea Mix
However if you notice the ingredients, they all are part of various Indian masala recipes. Just a few tweaks that's all.
You can simply google and see health benefits for using turmeric, cinnamon and ginger in fighting the infections and inflammation. Adding Black pepper with turmeric helps the curcumin vitality.
We combine those ingredients. Add in healing and digestive boosters of cumin, coriander and fennel seeds as well as cardamom and cloves.
Per Ayurvedic Science, when we balance the three dosha ( vaat , cough and pitta) our body gets in harmony and well being. The combination of these spices help us get that balance naturally.
Serving Suggestions
I often drink this powder with a glass of warm water. You can add it in your green tea as well. We also like it mixed with warm almond milk for delicious golden latte.
You can use this powder in so many different ways. Sprinkle it on oatmeal, pancakes, avocado toast. You can add it as a topping on latte or cappuccinos. You can mix it in dough to make cookies with it too.
Use your imagination and sky is the limit on the different ways that you can use it.
You only use ½ teaspoon of this mixture per day. The mixture has strong concentrated flavors with spicy tone. Do not over use it.
If you are not used to hot spices, lower the amount of ginger, black pepper and cloves used.

- Always use fresh spices.
- Use only dry spoon to scoop the mix out.

- Store the powder mix in air tight glass bottle / container and keep it in cool dry place, away from the direct sunlight.
- You can double the batch. Keep the spice proportions roughly the same.

@Immunity Booster, Should the cardamom seeds be measured by taking out the shell? Could we use cardamom powder instead?
admin
You can use cardamom powder as well. The measurement should be without the shells. just the seeds. TY
