    Ingredients

All you need is a 4 ingredients and 15 minutes to make these fun little chocolate birds nest treats. I am including several options and variations to make them.

    • Chocolate Chips : I used semi-sweet chocolate chips. They are sweet and slightly bitter chocolate taste.
    • Chow Mein Noodles : Store brought chow-mein noodles add salty and savory taste to these nest cookies. They are crispy and give haystack / branch like appearance to the nests.
    • Coconut Oil : Helps melt the chocolate chips to smooth consistency. It also gives a nice shiny glaze to the cookies.
    • Egg Shaped Candies: You can use your favorites like Cadbury Mini Eggs, Jelly Bird Eggs or other store brought egg shaped candies. Choose mini size so the eggs fit in the nests.

    Variations

    • Besides semi sweet chocolate chips, you can use several other combination of chocolate chips, plain milk chocolate, dark chocolate, mint chocolate or butterscotch chips are great options.
    • You can stir in almond butter or peanut butter to add more flavors.
    • Dry Coconut flakes, shredded wheat cereal, puffed wheat or cornflakes cereal, rice Krispies cereal or mini pretzel sticks can be used instead of dry Chow Mein Noodles. All of them look like twigs on the nest.
    • You can use vegetable shortening, oil or butter instead of coconut oil.
