Benefits of Using an Air Fryer to Cook Eggs
Effort: Cooking eggs on the stovetop requires constant monitoring and adjusting of the heat to ensure that the eggs are cooked right. With an Air Fryer, all you need to do is set the timer and let the machine do the work. This eliminates the need for constant attention and effort.
Consistent results: Cooking eggs on the stovetop can be unpredictable, and the eggs can turn out differently each time you cook them. With an air-fryer, you can achieve consistent results every time. The temperature and hot air inside the air fryer are controlled, so the eggs cook evenly and consistently.
Easy to peel: Air fryer eggs are also easier to peel than stovetop eggs. It’s easy to separate the shell from the egg, making it easier to peel the shell off without damaging the egg.
Batch cooking: Air frying allows you to cook multiple eggs at once, making it ideal for batch cooking. This is especially useful when you’re meal prepping for the week or cooking for a large family. I use this method extensively for Easter eggs too.
Saves Time : Especially when you are making a big batch , this method of cooking saves time compare to time it takes to boil large pot water.
Storage
If you want to store your eggs for later use, place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They can last up to a week in the refrigerator. You can serve your eggs with toast, salad, or eat them as a snack. Soft boiled eggs are perfect for Spicy Rice Ramen Noodles , while hard boiled eggs can be used to make Instant Pot Egg Salad or deviled eggs.
How to Make
Add the eggs to the basket, leaving a little space between each one. Close the air fryer. Set the temperature to 275 degree Fahrenheit ( 135 degree Celsius)
For soft boiled eggs, cook for 9-11 minutes. For jammy eggs, cook 12-13 minutes and for hard boiled eggs, cook for 13-15 minutes.
To prepare ice bath, fill a bowl halfway with ice, then add cold water until the bowl is ¾ filled.
Remove the eggs from the basket and set them in the ice bath for about 4-5 minutes, until they are cool enough to handle.
Gently crack the egg shells by tapping them on hard surface like countertop or cutting board. Peel and discard the outer layer and enjoy !
Pro Tips
- Use room temperature eggs: Start with eggs that have been brought to room temperature, as this helps to prevent cracking while cooking.
- Single layer: To ensure even cooking, place the eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket as this can cause uneven cooking and may result in some eggs being overcooked or undercooked.
- Proper Cooling : Once the eggs are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water. This helps to stop the cooking process and makes them easier to peel.
- Peel carefully: Gently tap the eggs on a hard surface to crack the shell, then peel the shell off carefully. The shells should come off easily, but if they don’t, try peeling them under running water.
