I am using store-bought Pillsbury Crescent Dough to make these delightful baked pastry that combines the rich and warm flavors of cinnamon with a flaky, buttery crescents. Each sweet bite is infused with the earthy, warm and comforting flavors. It is pure bliss to eat these crescent rolls with sugar and cinnamon for an indulgent yet super easy breakfast.
Similar to Cinnamon Sugar Biscuit Bites and Apple Cinnamon Muffins, these warm rolls are our family favorite for quick desserts.
These sweet golden brown crescents are also very inexpensive to make and use easy to find ingredients. However they are so buttery, flaky, and fluffy, they taste just like croissant sold at fancy French Bakery or Cafe.
Ingredients
Crescent Roll Dough: I often keep store bought Pillsbury Crescent Dough is my refrigerator. It comes in pre-packaged tubes, comprising flour, butter, water, and leavening agents. You need to properly defrost them per package directions to get a flaky and tender texture to the final pastry.
Ground Cinnamon: The star of the recipe, ground cinnamon infuses the rolls with its warm and aromatic flavor. Its sweet and slightly spicy notes create a comforting and indulgent experience.
Sugar: A key component of the cinnamon filling, light brown sugar adds sweetness to balance the spice of the cinnamon. It contributes to the overall richness of the flavor profile.
Melted Butter: Combined with sugar and cinnamon, melted butter forms a luscious filling that coats the dough. It not only enhances the flavor but also contributes to the soft and moist texture of the rolls.
Optional Glaze Ingredients : Powdered Sugar is used in the glaze and adds sweetness. It creates a glossy finish that crowns each roll. A touch of vanilla extract in the glaze elevates the overall flavor profile.
How to Make crescent roll cinnamon rolls
Preparation : Preheat oven to 375°F and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
Roll out the pillsbury crescent rolls dough sheets and lay them on the baking sheet or counter. Cut the perforations triangles with sharp knife or pizza cutter.
In a small bowl mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon powder. Using a pastry brush or a spoon, spread the cinnamon butter mixture on top of the crescent rolls dough. Then roll up the dough in crescent shape and place on the baking sheet.
Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges. Serve warm and Enjoy!
Optional Glaze : Whisk together the powdered sugar, warm milk and vanilla. Once the crescents have slightly cooled, drizzle glaze on top. You can also sprinkle extra sugar on top.
