Ingredients
Pretzel Sticks – I use pretzel sticks for this recipe. They make nice palm sized spider web cookies.
Chocolate Chips – Use you favorite type of white and dark chocolate chips or candy melts. If using chocolate chips, add a teaspoon of coconut oil for smooth flowing melting chocolate. Adding instructions below on how to melt chocolate smoothly.
Sprinkles – Colorful Halloween sprinkles to add to the festive decoration. Optional but kids love it.
How to Make
Prepare a Workspace
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will prevent the pretzels from sticking.
Arrange the pretzel sticks
Lay out minimum of 6 or 8 pretzel sticks in a spoke wheel pattern. You can add more sticks if you prefer. Just make sure to keep the center tightly together so they stick well together.
Melt the Chocolate
Melt the white and dark chocolate chips until smooth. Add the melted chocolate to a Ziploc bag or piping bag. Cut a small tip off. ( You can also spoon and drizzle the mixture but pipping gets cleaner results.)
Create Chocolate Spider Webs
Drizzle the melted white chocolate over each pretzel wheel in a spiral pattern to create a web-like design. Start in the center of the pretzel wheel and swirl it around working your way to the outside of the pretzels.
Set the Chocolate
Allow the chocolate to cool and harden. This can be expedited by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for a few minutes.
Create spider bodies and legs using melted chocolate ( optional step )
After the chocolate web cookies are fully set and removable, you can create spider bodies and legs in the center of each web. You can do this by making a small round blob for the body and then drawing legs extending out from it.
Serve and Enjoy
Once the chocolate has fully set, carefully remove the spider web pretzels from the parchment paper. Arrange them on a platter and serve! Enjoy
How to Melt Chocolate in Instant Pot?
Add 2 cups of water in the inner pot of Instant Pot. Place a trivet in the main insert. Place a bowl on top of the trivet. Add chocolate chips or chunks to the bowl. Turn ON Instant Pot on SAUTE mode . Once the water starts to boil, cancel SAUTE and press keep warm. Whisk until all the chocolate has melted, it will take around 4-5 minutes.
Pro Tips
- Melt Chocolate in Short Intervals: When melting chocolate in the microwave, use short intervals (around 30 seconds) and stir well in between. This helps prevent overheating and ensures a smooth consistency.
- Add coconut oil to keep the melted chocolate thin.
- Work Quickly: Once the chocolate is melted, work efficiently. It may start to cool and harden, making it harder to drizzle.
- Use a Piping Bag for Precision: While you can use a spoon, using a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a small corner cut off gives you more control and allows for finer details.
Storage
Cool Completely: Before storing, make sure the spider web pretzels have cooled completely. This ensures that the chocolate has had time to set.
Single Layer: Ideally, store the pretzels in a single layer to prevent them from sticking together or smudging the designs. If you need to stack them, place a sheet of parchment paper between layers.
Refrigeration (Optional): While not necessary, if you live in a particularly warm or humid climate, you can store the pretzels in the refrigerator.
