Equipment

Ingredients

  • 64 pretzel sticks Makes 8 webs using 8 sticks in each web.
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips or candy melts I use 1½ cup white and ½ cup dark

Optional

  • Halloween sprinkles
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil or shortening to make smooth melted chocolate. only needed if you use chocolate chips,

Instructions

Prepare a Workspace

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This will prevent the pretzels from sticking.

Arrange the pretzel sticks

  • Lay out 6 or 8 pretzel sticks in a spoke wheel pattern. Keep the center tightly together so they stick well together.

Melt the Chocolate ( See notes on how to do this in Instant Pot or Microwave)

  • Melt the white and dark chocolate chips separately until smooth. Add the melted chocolate to a Ziploc bag or piping bag. Cut a small tip off. ( You can also spoon and drizzle the mixture but pipping gets cleaner results.)

Create Chocolate Spider Webs

  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over each pretzel wheel in a spiral pattern to create a web-like design. Start in the center of the pretzel wheel and swirl it around working your way to the outside of the pretzels.

Set the Chocolate

  • Allow the chocolate to cool and harden. This can be expedited by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for a few minutes. ( white chocolate chips take longer to set)

Create spider bodies and legs using melted chocolate ( Optional)

  • After the chocolate web cookies are fully set and removable, you can create spider bodies and legs in the center of each web. You can do this by making a small round blob for the body and then drawing legs extending out from it.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Once the chocolate has fully set, carefully remove the spider web pretzels from the parchment paper. Arrange them on a platter and serve! Enjoy

How to Melt Chocolate in Instant Pot?

  • Add 2 cups of water in the inner pot of Instant Pot. Place a trivet in the main insert.  Place a bowl on top of the trivet. Add chocolate chips or chunks to the bowl. Turn ON Instant Pot on SAUTE mode . Once the water starts to boil, cancel SAUTE and press keep warm. Whisk until all the chocolate has melted, it will take around 4-5 minutes.

Notes

How to Melt Chocolate in Microwave :  Put the chocolate chips or chunks in microwave safe bowl. Put the bowl in microwave.  Using 30 second intervals,  heat the chocolate.  After every 30 seconds , take the bowl out and stir the chocolate well. You need about 2-3 minutes to get well melted chocolate.  Melted chocolate can burn easily so keep an eye out.
