- 1 ½ lb. gnocchi I used potato gnocchi
- 3 Tablespoon butter or olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ teaspoon Italian Seasoning
Optional Garnishes
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast
- Fresh sage, parsley or basil leaves
Heat the butter in a frying pan or skillet until melted. Add the gnocchi. Using a spatula, mix it well so that the melted butter coats the gnocchi.
Sprinkle some salt over it and cook over a medium heat, stirring every few minutes. Gnocchi is done when it’s crisped up to golden brown on all sides.
Remove from the pan. Season with salt and pepper and optional garnishes or sauces. Serve and enjoy !
Storage : This recipe is best served when freshly made. Fried gnocchi starts to harden if you keep it too long. It is so unbelievably good, we hardly have any leftovers.
If you end up with some, keep it in air tight container to prevent it from getting further dry. I do not recommend freezing it. Crispy food doesn't do well in freezer.
Pro Tips :
Don’t overcrowd the skillet. You want the gnocchi to be spread out in a single layer across the bottom of the pan.
